Children’s boxing: pros and cons, at what age is it better to start training

Coming to the boxing section, the child chooses a useful and interesting activity that will positively affect his future life. And if the baby is active, then this is a chance to channel energy into a peaceful channel.

Confident, strong, able to achieve goals and hardworking — boxers have such qualities.

Is there any harm from boxing?

Boxing has been labeled a dangerous sport, and parents are afraid to bring their children. There is indeed a risk — this is a traumatic and contact martial art, but everything is under control: athletes wear protective equipment, breaks are provided during sparring, and children are surrounded by the attention of a coach.

The purpose of sparring is to master a new fighting style or technique, but not to harm the opponent or win. The fight lasts about 2-3 minutes and takes place under the supervision of a mentor: children do not stay alone with each other. The guys are also taught when it is possible to use combat skills, and when it is forbidden.

Protective gloves, a helmet and mouth guards are used as equipment. If a child starts to get seriously involved in martial arts, then it is worth thinking about buying individual sports equipment.

Most of the training the child is out of the ring:

does warm-up and stretching exercises;

jumping rope;

running;

works out punches on pears and special simulators;

learning to keep the balance.

Since how old can I do boxing?

It is permissible to send a child to a sports school at 6-7 years old, but the load should be dosed. Usually children get acquainted with stretching, perform exercises on the whole body.

If you start actively training from the age of 6-7, you may have problems with posture: muscles on different sides of the body will develop differently. They begin to study serious boxing techniques at the age of 10, when the bones become stronger and the correct posture is formed.

The coach takes into account the age of the students and selects a special program. Until the age of 10, the child will not be taught blows and fighting techniques. Pedagogical skills and professionalism of the mentor play an important role: he monitors the development of the athlete’s body and moral qualities.

Due to the heavy load on the child’s body, classes in “Premier Sport” are allowed only if there is a certificate from a doctor. With seasonal diseases (colds, flu, etc.), you should take breaks in training.

Boxing is completely prohibited with the following contraindications:

vision problems;

brain injuries;

pathology of the heart;

diseases of the central nervous system;

problems of the respiratory system.

How are classes useful?

Children’s boxing improves physical fitness: the child will not suffer from obesity or a sedentary lifestyle.

A young athlete strengthens his health, and also:

acquires dexterity;

improves endurance and overall mobility;

develops coordination of movements.

What boxing gives in the future is social and psychological training. Adult boxers are persistent and internally strong athletes who hold a punch not only in the gym, but also in life. Children who are engaged in martial arts are less aggressive and conflicted: they think clearly, are able to concentrate and control themselves. Boxing develops discipline and firmness of character.
